Back to School!
Learning how to host events with pizzazz in the covid-19 world
It's been a long, long year of the pandemic and we are easing back into our next version of normal. Join us for an in-person 'back to school' panel as we re-learn the latest in regulations for hosting events in today's world. Our panelists will cover everything you need to know to stay up to date on the latest developments for safe events and also share creative ideas for engaging your attendees. Whether you are a venue, caterer, planner, DJ, photographer, rental company, or other event professional, there will be something to learn for everyone. Come for the fellowship, community, and sharing! (of ideas, not germs)
Since this is the world of COVID, please know that we will be taking all the proper precautions to keep you safe during the event. Tables will be limited to groups of six and attendees will need to remain seated throughout the meeting (bathroom breaks accepted). Please stay masked up when not at your seat and respect the space of the people around you. Not super comfortable being around other people yet? No worries, we will stream this live on Facebook too!

Sara Waltemire - Director of Sales & Events for Meydenbauer Center
Sara Waltemire, Meydenbauer Center’s Director of Sales & Events, started with the Center fresh out of college as an Event Assistant. A proud “boomerang” employee, she left for a job in the corporate world only to return to the Meydenbauer Center family in a managerial role. Sara found her passion for events while in high school, working at Starbucks, helping to coordinate involvement in fundraising events around Albuquerque. She is a cat-lover, jet setter and self-proclaimed lover of all things food and wine.
In high school, Sara was known for her award winning duct tape dress making skills!
Aaron Shook - General Manager of Ocean5 & Table 47
Aaron Shook is General Manager of Ocean5, the unique new, 60,000sqft events and entertainment center in the South Sound, and Table 47, the new farm-fresh, locally and responsibly sourced restaurant and caterer located in Gig Harbor. Aaron is also Co-Owner of Perfect Storm Moments an elite wedding and events planning company in the Seattle area.
In addition to his work with his various enterprises, Aaron is also a Certified Professional in Catering and Events (CPCE), holds a certificate from the Events Industry Council (EIC) as a Sustainable Event Professional, serves on the board as President of the Seattle Chapter, National Association for Catering and Events (NACE), holds advisory positions on both the Washington Hospitality Association’s (WHA) MSC board and the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce Government Relations Committee, and chairs the association’s National Marketing & Technology Committee for NACE National. He was recently nationally recognized for his leadership of creative program development, fundraising and inspiring continuous innovation.
Aaron graduated from City University of Seattle on the Dean’s List with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with an emphasis on sustainability. He also graduated with honors from Cabrillo College in California for an associate’s degree in health and nutrition.
Despite many accomplishments, Aaron is notoriously terrible at fantasy football and should not be considered a subject matter expert in this area.
Gazala Uradnik - Owner and Chief Visionary of GFS Events
Gazala Uradnik started GFS Events in the hopes of solving all the world’s problems but also to create the most fun, innovative and creative fundraisers for nonprofits! She uses her super powers of patience and creativity along with her uncanny knack for making stressed out clients feel calm to plan successful fundraising events.
Gazala has been in the nonprofit world for over 20 years and started GFS Events 9 years ago. She has been part of the ILEA Seattle Chapter Board for 5 years and hopes to someday see her fellow board members in person. Since the pandemic, Gazala has started drinking heavily and swears a lot more. She wears yoga pants daily but accompanied by sparkly tops and statement necklaces on Zoom calls. Her burning desire is to get all of her kids out of the house someday with good paying jobs and have time to travel with just her husband.
In high school, Gazala was in every play and musical and starred in an An Actor’s Nightmare where she won the “Best Supporting Actress” award for her part as Sarah Siddons, a famous actress.
Robin Denny - Chief Party Office for CORT Party Rental
Robin wants to live in a world filled with innovative and fascinating people, books that come bundled with a chilled bottle of prosecco, and a teleportation machine that can zip her anywhere in the world at a moment's notice.
As an industry professional with over 25 years of driving outstanding customer experiences, Robin has a BA in Communication and a Master’s in Business Administration. In addition, she holds two industry certifications: her CERP through the American Rental Association (ARA) and her CPCE through the National Association of Catering and Events (NACE). Her motto? Always be learning!
When she's not leading her team of event rental gladiators for CORT, you can find Robin whipping up craft cocktails in her kitchen, designing her own line of couture sequin masks in her kitchen, or gently encouraging the relocation of eight legged insects that have taken up residence in her kitchen.
